Spirit vs Flesh?

John 3 (NKJV)

5 Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.

Getting into heaven is not based upon how good you are.

You must be born again.

You don't earn your way into the family of God, but you are born into it.

Just like you didn't earn your physical birth.

That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

7 Do not marvel that I (Jesus) said to you, ‘You must be born again.’

John 4:20 (NKJV)

Our fathers (A Samaritan woman speaking) worshiped on this mountain, and you Jews say that in Jerusalem is the place where one ought to worship.”

There was a religious controversy in where a person was suppose to worship during Jesus's time.

During this day, there is a lot of controversy during our time.

People elevate their Church above God's Word.

They elevate tradition above God's Word.

If you are a Christian, the Head of the Church, Jesus, tells us in His Word, the Bible, what to believe.

If the truth will set you free, what will bind you?  It is lies and errors.

If you can't find it in God's Word in multiple places what you believe, you must change your beliefs.

Where's it in the Word?

Where's is it the Scripture?

If you can't find the Scripture, don't accept it as truth.

There is a broad way that leads to destruction.

That means that the majority is wrong.

Jesus said that there is one way to God, and I'm it (John 14:6).

You either believe this or not.

Thank you God for allowing us to believe in your truth and for saving us.

John 4:20 (NKJV)

Our fathers (A Samaritan woman speaking) worshiped on this mountain, and you Jews say that in Jerusalem is the place where one ought to worship.”

This woman was wanting to get into a religious argument with Jesus.

21 Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe Me, the hour is coming when you will neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, worship the Father.

Jesus said both groups were wrong.

22 You worship what you do not know; we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews.

23 But the hour is coming, and now is, when...

the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.

Jesus said that something new is coming.

Jesus was introducing New Testament worship which came from the Spirit.

In the Old Testament, people worshiped in the flesh.

Not everyone who is worshiping is worshiping truly.

You may be worshiping and wasting your time.  We want true worship.

It's not a geographic location.

True worship is coming and it is here, Jesus said!

God is tired of flesh worship and won't accept it any longer.

Now, God requires worship in the Spirit.

In the New Testament, our spirits have be born again if we believe in Jesus.

We can yield to the Holy Spirit as we worship Him.

There is a big difference in Old Testament worship and New Testament worship.

Only select people were anointed by the Holy Spirit in Old Testament for a time.

No one was born again in the Old Testament.

Now through Jesus the gates of heaven are open wide.

We can all be born again if we only believe in Jesus.

24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

God's not making things complicated.

With God's help, you can understand this.

God, help us to practically do these things, and walk in your Holy Spirit.

Make it plain.

It's not suppose to be a mystery.  It's not complicated.

God's a Spirit, and so are you.

You're not a mind.

You're not a body.

You are a spirit who lives in a physical body.

It's like a hand being in a glove.

You are not your body.

Your body is the house that your spirit lives inside.

You are created in the image and likeness of the Almighty God.

Our spirits have a mind.

Our bodies have a brain.

Our brain is the piano that our mind plays.

It is just an instrument.

God give us quick understanding.

We can learn anything that we need to learn.  D

on't talk about how hard it is to learn.

You have the eternal God inside of you if you have Jesus.

The Holy Spirit will teach you all things.

Don't let your words be stout again God.

Say I can do all thing through Christ who strengthens me.

I can learn all things.

Let your words work for you instead of against you.

Your brain is not your mind.

We're talking about spirit and flesh.

Anything that came through your spirit is from God.

John 3:16  (NKJV)

16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, Jesus, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Dan Dehaan's Metro Bible Study

In the late 1970s, I attended an interdenominational Bible Study called “the Metro Bible Study” in Metro Atlanta, which began as a Small Group in “Dad” Charles Ellis’ basement. It was taught by Dan Dehaan, and eventually outgrew Dad Ellis’ basement by moving to the Griffin Middle School.  When I first started attending, it had grown to 300 teenagers who meet ever Tuesday night and featured Contemporary Christian Music played by “The Pat Terry Group”.  As the Metro Bible Study continued rapid growth, they eventually moved to the First Baptist Church of Smyrna, Georgia where it peaked around 1200 attendees.  In the summer of 1982, Dan Dehaan died in a plane crash and teacher John Riley took over. Under John Riley, the Bible Study grew to about 1,500 after eventually moving to Mt. Paran Church of God. When I was first invited to the “Metro Bible Study”, I didn’t go to hear Dan Dehaan teach because I didn’t know who he was.  What I went to hear...

Where is God when times get tough?

Mark 4:35-41 (NLT) 35  As evening came, Jesus said to his disciples, “Let’s cross to the other side of the lake.”  Faith is based upon something.  Jesus said that they were all going across the lake.  The disciples should have based their faith upon what Jesus had said.   36  So they took Jesus in the boat and started out, leaving the crowds behind (although other boats followed).  37  But soon a fierce storm came up. High waves were breaking into the boat, and it began to fill with water. You can be in the center of the will of God, and the journey can get tough.  38  Jesus was sleeping at the back of the boat with his head on a cushion.  Faith doesn't fret.  Jesus was in the same ship as they were, but he was relaxed and asleep.   The disciples woke him up, shouting, “Teacher, don’t you care that we’re going to drown?” Our mi...

The Worry Pill

Matthew 6:19-34 (NKJV) 19  “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal;  20  but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.  21  For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. 22  “The lamp of the body (the window that lets in the light) is the eye. If therefore your eye is good (opened), your whole body will be full of light.  23  But if your eye is bad (closed) , your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great  is  that darkness! (Our eyes allow light to give us direction).   24  “No one can serve two masters (an inability to focus in one direction); for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise t...
