Faith Friends

Faith is a choice!

Anyone can ask a question.

That doesn't mean that there is an answer to it.

If you hear a message that strengthens your faith, review it over and over again.

Satan is called the prince of the power of the air (Ephesians 2:2).

The people of this world are under the control of the wicked one (1 John 5:19).

We live in a cold, dark, oppressive place.

Evil and wrong spirits are influencing all around (Ephesians 6:12).

The enemy is trying to stamp out God's truth that's revealed to you.

Hold on tight to God's revelation in you (Luke 8:15).

The enemy comes to steal God's Word from you (Mark 4:15).

If you drift from your personal responsibility to walk by faith, it moves you toward the belief it's all up to God.

God provides for us, but He won't believe for us.

What's provided by grace must be taken by faith or it won't be enjoyed.

You won't experience it unless you take hold of it.

1 Timothy 6:12 A (NKJV)

Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

If your faith didn't work, it wasn't faith.

The devil will try to get you to blame  God.

It wasn't God's fault.

It was you.

The perfect One will never let you down, but it is we who have fallen short.

Nehemiah 8:10 D (NKJV)

The joy of the Lord is your strength.”

Where does the joy of the Lord come from?

It comes from having fellowship with Him.

If you have real faith, you can have fellowship with Him.

1 John 1:3 (NKJV)

that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ.

Fellowship means to share.

You can't fellowship by yourself.

If you're communing with God, you're not by yourself.

You're with God.

It's like a shared meal.

You sharing the food on the table with someone else.

What's in you is in me after we've eaten.

Here's an offer from Jesus Christ.

Revelation 3:20  (NKJV)

20 Behold, I (Jesus)  stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.

When you fellowship, you can share more than just food.

You can share thoughts, dreams, feelings, priorities, passions, and desires.

It's great to share with people.

It's much greater to share with Jesus.

That was God plan in the beginning.

When people sinned, they withdrew from fellowship with God, but still He reaches out to them for fellowship.

Genesis 3:8 (NKJV)

And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden.

We have ah opportunity to commune and have fellowship with God.

1 John 3:1  (NKJV)

Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God!

God considers us His children.

1 John 1:4  (NKJV)

And these things we write to you that your joy may be full.

Stuff can't bring you joy only fellowship with God can.

If you give God a thought, He'll give you one right back.

James 4:8 (NKJV)

Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.

Fellowship with God is the source of faith in God.

1 John 1 (NKJV)

This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.

If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.

Light allows you to see.

Darkness takes it away from you.

When you have fellowship with God, you can see because He is sharing light with you.

Here are some examples of darkness.

1. You don't know what to do.

2. You don't know where to go.

3. You don't know what's wrong.

4. You don't know what the problem is.

5. You don't know what to do about it.

6. You don't know why it's not working.

7. You don't know why you don't have it yet.

Whatever you don't understand is whatever you can't see.

When you or I don't see it, we're not communing with God.

Don't knowing, seeing, or understanding is darkness.

If we're communing with God, He's going to show us how, when, and where.

The biggest problem with walking by faith is trying to exercise faith without fellowship.

John 15:5 (NKJV)
Jesus speaking: “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.

Trying to exercise faith principles apart from a living communion with God is futile.

It doesn't work.

Faith without fellowship with God will only get you so far.

Some people have faith in themselves and can only go as far as they can do.

When it comes to faith in God, that's where the miracles happen.

Mark 11:22 (NKJV)

22 So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God

The only way that we can have faith in God is to walk with Him and to listen to Him throughout the day.

How do we know how we will receive from Him unless we hear from Him?

Nothing else will substitute for having fellowship with Him.

1 John 1  (NKJV)

This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.
If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.
But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.

When we walk in the light, we will not walk in confusion.

Dan Dehaan's Metro Bible Study

In the late 1970s, I attended an interdenominational Bible Study called “the Metro Bible Study” in Metro Atlanta, which began as a Small Group in “Dad” Charles Ellis’ basement. It was taught by Dan Dehaan, and eventually outgrew Dad Ellis’ basement by moving to the Griffin Middle School.  When I first started attending, it had grown to 300 teenagers who meet ever Tuesday night and featured Contemporary Christian Music played by “The Pat Terry Group”.  As the Metro Bible Study continued rapid growth, they eventually moved to the First Baptist Church of Smyrna, Georgia where it peaked around 1200 attendees.  In the summer of 1982, Dan Dehaan died in a plane crash and teacher John Riley took over. Under John Riley, the Bible Study grew to about 1,500 after eventually moving to Mt. Paran Church of God. When I was first invited to the “Metro Bible Study”, I didn’t go to hear Dan Dehaan teach because I didn’t know who he was.  What I went to hear...

Where is God when times get tough?

Mark 4:35-41 (NLT) 35  As evening came, Jesus said to his disciples, “Let’s cross to the other side of the lake.”  Faith is based upon something.  Jesus said that they were all going across the lake.  The disciples should have based their faith upon what Jesus had said.   36  So they took Jesus in the boat and started out, leaving the crowds behind (although other boats followed).  37  But soon a fierce storm came up. High waves were breaking into the boat, and it began to fill with water. You can be in the center of the will of God, and the journey can get tough.  38  Jesus was sleeping at the back of the boat with his head on a cushion.  Faith doesn't fret.  Jesus was in the same ship as they were, but he was relaxed and asleep.   The disciples woke him up, shouting, “Teacher, don’t you care that we’re going to drown?” Our mi...

The Worry Pill

Matthew 6:19-34 (NKJV) 19  “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal;  20  but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.  21  For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. 22  “The lamp of the body (the window that lets in the light) is the eye. If therefore your eye is good (opened), your whole body will be full of light.  23  But if your eye is bad (closed) , your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great  is  that darkness! (Our eyes allow light to give us direction).   24  “No one can serve two masters (an inability to focus in one direction); for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise t...
