Don't Blame God

Do you believe that God's Word is God talking to you?

Say Lord, talk to me, and then start reading the Bible.

You come to know His voice through reading the Bible.

It is 66 books with many different writers, but one author who is the Holy Spirit.

After creating a habit of reading God's Word, you'll recognize His voice when His Holy Spirit speaks to you.

Some people who call you on the phone.

They'll just say hello,  and you know who it is.

We need to be that way with God's voice.

Matthew 13:1-9  (ESV)

13 That same day Jesus went out of the house and sat beside the sea.

And great crowds gathered about him, so that he got into a boat and sat down. And the whole crowd stood on the beach.

And he told them many things in parables, saying:

“A sower went out to sow.

And as he sowed, some seeds fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured them.

Other seeds fell on rocky ground, where they did not have much soil, and immediately they sprang up, since they had no depth of soil,

but when the sun rose they were scorched. And since they had no root, they withered away.

Other seeds fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked them.

Other seeds fell on good soil and produced grain, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.

He who has ears, let him hear.”

Matthew 13:13-14  (ESV)

13 This is why I (Jesus) speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand.

14 Indeed, in their case the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled that says:

“‘“You will indeed hear but never understand,

and you will indeed see but never perceive.”

The outcomes of our lives are the result of our response to God's word.

Begging God to do something is wrong thinking.

It's trying to get God to do things our way.

Not in the way that God has told us that He works through His Word.

His word is seed.

The first time that you hear it.  It is seed.

Get it in you.

Water it, and it will grow.

The following times that you hear it.  It is being watered.

Don't feed on everything in the world.

Don't blame God for a lack of results while refusing to do what He asks us to do.

God is not the problem.

He is not withholding any good thing.

Faith is not an intellectual position.

Faith is not knowledge.

Faith is of the heart.

God speaks faith filled words that are like seed.

It reproduces itself within you.

It's the law of displacement.

If you get full of faith, it displaces fear.

You've got to keep hearing it continuously.

According to Jesus, 3 out of 4 soils got no results.

Jesus is saying it's not God's fault.

It's the soil's fault if the words of God get no results.

He didn't say that it wasn't God's will.

He said that it was the soil.

It was because of their wrong response.

The outcomes of our lives are from our response to God's words.

Matthew 13:18-19 (ESV)

18 “Hear then the parable of the sower:

19 When anyone hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand itthe evil one comes and snatches away what has been sown in his heart. This is what was sown along the path.

Luke 8:5 (ESV)

“A sower went out to sow his seed. And as he sowed, some fell along the path and was trampled underfoot, and the birds of the air devoured it.

It's sad that people have zero respect for God's Word.

You don't walk on stuff you highly regard.

We get blessed by seeking first God's kingdom and righteousness.

Because they didn't regard it, they didn't understand it.

That's why Satan stole it from them.

Because of technology, people are perpetually distracted.

Give God your complete attention.

Learn how to focus and keep your mind of Him.

That's how it gets in you.

In that moment, let God be your entire world.

There are many voices in the world.

There is one voice you need to be in tune to.

Dan Dehaan's Metro Bible Study

In the late 1970s, I attended an interdenominational Bible Study called “the Metro Bible Study” in Metro Atlanta, which began as a Small Group in “Dad” Charles Ellis’ basement. It was taught by Dan Dehaan, and eventually outgrew Dad Ellis’ basement by moving to the Griffin Middle School.  When I first started attending, it had grown to 300 teenagers who meet ever Tuesday night and featured Contemporary Christian Music played by “The Pat Terry Group”.  As the Metro Bible Study continued rapid growth, they eventually moved to the First Baptist Church of Smyrna, Georgia where it peaked around 1200 attendees.  In the summer of 1982, Dan Dehaan died in a plane crash and teacher John Riley took over. Under John Riley, the Bible Study grew to about 1,500 after eventually moving to Mt. Paran Church of God. When I was first invited to the “Metro Bible Study”, I didn’t go to hear Dan Dehaan teach because I didn’t know who he was.  What I went to hear...

Where is God when times get tough?

Mark 4:35-41 (NLT) 35  As evening came, Jesus said to his disciples, “Let’s cross to the other side of the lake.”  Faith is based upon something.  Jesus said that they were all going across the lake.  The disciples should have based their faith upon what Jesus had said.   36  So they took Jesus in the boat and started out, leaving the crowds behind (although other boats followed).  37  But soon a fierce storm came up. High waves were breaking into the boat, and it began to fill with water. You can be in the center of the will of God, and the journey can get tough.  38  Jesus was sleeping at the back of the boat with his head on a cushion.  Faith doesn't fret.  Jesus was in the same ship as they were, but he was relaxed and asleep.   The disciples woke him up, shouting, “Teacher, don’t you care that we’re going to drown?” Our mi...

The Worry Pill

Matthew 6:19-34 (NKJV) 19  “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal;  20  but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.  21  For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. 22  “The lamp of the body (the window that lets in the light) is the eye. If therefore your eye is good (opened), your whole body will be full of light.  23  But if your eye is bad (closed) , your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great  is  that darkness! (Our eyes allow light to give us direction).   24  “No one can serve two masters (an inability to focus in one direction); for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise t...
