Does God Hate Money?

Psalm 112:1-3 (ESV)

Praise the Lord!

Blessed is the man who fears the Lord,
    who greatly delights in his commandments!

His offspring will be mighty in the land;

    the generation of the upright will be blessed.

Wealth and riches are in his house,
    and his righteousness endures forever.

Let's believe God to elevate our lives. Not to water down God's word to match our lives.

Psalm 112:9-10  (ESV)

9 He has distributed freely;

he has given to the poor;

    his righteousness endures forever;

    his horn is exalted in honor.

10 The wicked man sees it and is angry;

    he gnashes his teeth and melts away;

    the desire of the wicked will perish!

In the world, money is influence.

Satan perfect will for you is for you to go to hell.

If you miss hell and are going to heaven, then Satan wants to kill you and get you out of here (John 10:10).

2 Corinthians 4:4 (ESV)

In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.

Satan wants you despised.

He's trying to remove your influence.

He'd like for you to embrace sickness, death, and poverty.

Because he knows the goodness of God leads people to repentance (Romans 2:4).

God is not opposed to money; however, the love of money is (1 Timothy 6:10).

1 Timothy 6:17 (ESV)
17 As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy.

Mark 7:6 (ESV)

And he said to them, “Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written,

“‘This people honors me with their lips,
    but their heart is far from me;

A hypocrites is saying one thing and doing another.

Mark 7(ESV)
in vain do they worship me,
    teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’

People make stuff up, and don't do it themselves.

We must check out what's being said to us in God's word.

People are following the teaching of men.  Even stuff that been around 1000s of years.

God's word is right.

Mark 7 (ESV)

You leave the commandment of God and hold to the tradition of men.”

And he said to them, You have a fine way of rejecting the commandment of God in order to establish your tradition!

13 thus making void the word of God by your tradition that you have handed down. And many such things you do.”

We should examine everything that we believe as compared to Scripture.

Colossians 2:6-8 (ESV)
Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him,

rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.

See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ.

18 Let no one disqualify you, insisting on asceticism and worship of angels, going on in detail about visions, puffed up without reason by his sensuous mind,

People claim that they have heard from an angel to support their new teaching, but it contradicts the Bible.

2 Corinthians 11:14 (ESV)

14 And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.

Colossians 2:19-23 (ESV)

19 and not holding fast to the Head, from whom the whole body, nourished and knit together through its joints and ligaments, grows with a growth that is from God.

20 If with Christ you died to the elemental spirits of the world, why, as if you were still alive in the world, do you submit to regulations—

21 “Do not handle, Do not taste, Do not touch”

22 (referring to things that all perish as they are used)—according to human precepts and teachings?

23 These have indeed an appearance of wisdom in promoting self-made religion and asceticism and severity to the body, but they are of no value in stopping the indulgence of the flesh.

People make up new doctrines to support what they want to do. When they do them, they lift themselves up in pride.

Matthew 8:14 (ESV)
14 And when Jesus entered Peter's house, he saw his mother-in-law lying sick with a fever.

Many believe that Peter was the first Pope.

At the same time, they teach that a Pope must not marry.

However, Peter was married and owned his own house (see verse above).

In other words, the first Pope was married and owned his own house.

1 Timothy 3:1-3 (ESV)
The saying is trustworthy: If anyone aspires to the office of overseer, he desires a noble task.

Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable , able to teach,

not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money.

4 He must manage his own household well, with all dignity keeping his children submissive,

1 Timothy 4:1-3 (ESV)
Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons,

through the insincerity of liars whose consciences are seared,

who forbid marriage and require abstinence from foods that God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.

Forbidding marriage is a doctrine authored by demons.

This is a companion doctrine to a preacher should be broke.

Don't get me wrong a preacher can be a crook, but not all of them.

Many will reject the word of God and cling to their traditions.

People try to push their own beliefs onto us.

We need abundance in order to reach others.

Dan Dehaan's Metro Bible Study

In the late 1970s, I attended an interdenominational Bible Study called “the Metro Bible Study” in Metro Atlanta, which began as a Small Group in “Dad” Charles Ellis’ basement. It was taught by Dan Dehaan, and eventually outgrew Dad Ellis’ basement by moving to the Griffin Middle School.  When I first started attending, it had grown to 300 teenagers who meet ever Tuesday night and featured Contemporary Christian Music played by “The Pat Terry Group”.  As the Metro Bible Study continued rapid growth, they eventually moved to the First Baptist Church of Smyrna, Georgia where it peaked around 1200 attendees.  In the summer of 1982, Dan Dehaan died in a plane crash and teacher John Riley took over. Under John Riley, the Bible Study grew to about 1,500 after eventually moving to Mt. Paran Church of God. When I was first invited to the “Metro Bible Study”, I didn’t go to hear Dan Dehaan teach because I didn’t know who he was.  What I went to hear...

Where is God when times get tough?

Mark 4:35-41 (NLT) 35  As evening came, Jesus said to his disciples, “Let’s cross to the other side of the lake.”  Faith is based upon something.  Jesus said that they were all going across the lake.  The disciples should have based their faith upon what Jesus had said.   36  So they took Jesus in the boat and started out, leaving the crowds behind (although other boats followed).  37  But soon a fierce storm came up. High waves were breaking into the boat, and it began to fill with water. You can be in the center of the will of God, and the journey can get tough.  38  Jesus was sleeping at the back of the boat with his head on a cushion.  Faith doesn't fret.  Jesus was in the same ship as they were, but he was relaxed and asleep.   The disciples woke him up, shouting, “Teacher, don’t you care that we’re going to drown?” Our mi...

The Worry Pill

Matthew 6:19-34 (NKJV) 19  “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal;  20  but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.  21  For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. 22  “The lamp of the body (the window that lets in the light) is the eye. If therefore your eye is good (opened), your whole body will be full of light.  23  But if your eye is bad (closed) , your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great  is  that darkness! (Our eyes allow light to give us direction).   24  “No one can serve two masters (an inability to focus in one direction); for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise t...
