Do you worship? True or False?



John 4(NLT)

20 So tell me, why is it that you Jews insist that Jerusalem is the only place of worship, while we Samaritans claim it is here at Mount Gerizim, where our ancestors worshiped?”



She is talking about physical things. 


21 Jesus replied, “Believe me, dear woman, the time is coming when it will no longer matter whether you worship the Father on this mountain or in Jerusalem.




22 You Samaritans know very little about the one you worship, while we Jews know all about him, for salvation comes through the Jews. 




23 But the time is coming—indeed it’s here now—when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. 




The Father is (actively)  looking for those who will worship him that way.




Jesus is not talking about physical things, but spiritual things. 



We are in a time when this verse is true.



Jeremiah 31:34 (NKJV)

34 No more shall every man teach his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, 


‘Know the Lord,’ for they all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says the Lord.


For I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more.”




24 For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.”






If there is true worship, there must be false worship.  


Our worship must be influenced by God's Holy Spirit within us.  


Our worship must not be pretend.  


Do you pretend to worship?   


We must really worship God.  
  

Today, Jesus has a flesh and bone body for the Word became flesh and dwelt among us (John 1:14). 



However, God the Father is not flesh, but a Spirit.  The Holy Spirit is not flesh, but a Spirit. 



God, the Father, is a Spirit; therefore, He has no color.  



He is not white.  He is not black.  He is not brown.  He is like a flame of fire with all the colors (Hebrews 12:29).  



You are a spirit, too, who lives in a flesh body. 



You body is like a house with your eyes being two windows.  



Your house has a color, but you are a spirit like God.  



Therefore; you are not white.  You are not black.  You are not brown.  You are a spirit like God.  

    
   
We can see your house, but we don't see you.  We look like God on the inside.  



1 John 3:2 (NKJV)

... when He (Jesus) is revealed, we shall be like Him...




Our focus should be on our spirit and not a physical bodies. 



Today, God's Holy Spirit can be in you.




John 14  (NKJV)

16 And I (Jesus) will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper (the Holy Spirit), that He may abide with you forever— 




17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.


Revelation 3:20 (NLT)

20 “Look! I (Jesus) stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.

Dan Dehaan's Metro Bible Study

In the late 1970s, I attended an interdenominational Bible Study called “the Metro Bible Study” in Metro Atlanta, which began as a Small Group in “Dad” Charles Ellis’ basement. It was taught by Dan Dehaan, and eventually outgrew Dad Ellis’ basement by moving to the Griffin Middle School.  When I first started attending, it had grown to 300 teenagers who meet ever Tuesday night and featured Contemporary Christian Music played by “The Pat Terry Group”.  As the Metro Bible Study continued rapid growth, they eventually moved to the First Baptist Church of Smyrna, Georgia where it peaked around 1200 attendees.  In the summer of 1982, Dan Dehaan died in a plane crash and teacher John Riley took over. Under John Riley, the Bible Study grew to about 1,500 after eventually moving to Mt. Paran Church of God. Where is God when times get tough?

Mark 4:35-41 (NLT) 35  As evening came, Jesus said to his disciples, “Let’s cross to the other side of the lake.”  Faith is based upon something.  Jesus said that they were all going across the lake.  The disciples should have based their faith upon what Jesus had said.   36  So they took Jesus in the boat and started out, leaving the crowds behind (although other boats followed).  37  But soon a fierce storm came up.
