The Old Testament Temple is a picture of the New Testament church.
1 Corinthians 3:16 (NKJV)
16 Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?
1 Peter 2:5 (NKJV)
5 you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to
God through Jesus Christ.
Matthew 27:51 (NKJV)
51 Then, behold, the veil of the (Old Testament) temple
was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the
rocks were split,
Upon the death of
Jesus, we have a new way of entering into God's presence.
Hebrews 10:19-20 (NKJV)
19 Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the
Holiest by the blood of Jesus,
20 by a new and living
way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His
flesh,
1
Kings 7:48 (NKJV)
48 Thus Solomon had all the furnishings made for the house of the Lord (The
Old Testament Temple):
the altar of gold, and the table of gold on which was the show bread;
2 Chronicles 3:10 (NKJV)
10 In the Most Holy Place he made two cherubim, fashioned by carving,
and overlaid them with gold.
1 Kings 6:30 (NKJV)
30 And the floor of the temple he overlaid with gold, both
the inner and outer sanctuaries.
Gold was used extensively in the building of the
temple. God likes Gold. In eternity, Jesus wears a band of gold
around His chest.
Revelation 1:13 (NKJV)
13 and in the midst of the seven lamp stands One like
the Son of Man (Jesus), clothed with a garment down to the feet
and girded about the chest with a golden band.
1 Kings 14:25-28 (NKJV)
25 It happened in the fifth year of King Rehoboam (King Solomon's
son) that Shishak king of Egypt came up
against Jerusalem.
26 And he took away the treasures of the house of the Lord and
the treasures of the king’s house;
he took away
everything. He also took away all the gold shields which
Solomon had made.
27 Then King Rehoboam made bronze shields in their
place,
and committed them to
the hands of the captains of the guard, who guarded the doorway of the
king’s house.
28 And whenever the king entered the
house of the Lord,
the guards carried them, then brought them back into the guardroom.
Brass from a
distance looks like Gold. They replaced the gold with brass.
We must not imitate
the world in our worship of God.
It might look like
gold, but it is brass.
Do you want the real? Then, we must get the phony out of the way.
Father, open my
eyes. Show me what is Gold or what is Brass.
Romans 12:1-2 (ESV)
12 I appeal to you therefore,
brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a
living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual
worship.
2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be
transformed by the renewal of your mind,
that by testing you may discern
what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
Romans 12:1-2 The Message (MSG)
So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday,
ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and
place it before God as an offering.
Embracing what God does for you is the
best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture
that you fit into it without even thinking.
Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be
changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and
quickly respond to it.
Unlike the culture around you, always dragging
you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed
maturity in you.
