Carefree?

Faith ends when worry arrives.  Worry ends when faith arrives.  Luke 21:33-35  (NLT) 33  Heaven and earth will disappear, but my (Jesus) words will never disappear. Jesus's words will stand for eternity if we will only stand upon them.   34  “Watch out! Don’t let your hearts be dulled by carousing and drunkenness, and by  the worries of this life.  Don’t let that day catch you unaware,  35  like a trap.  For that day will come upon everyone living on the earth. Allowing yourself to worry is Satan's trap.    Luke 22:31 New Living Translation (NLT) 31 “Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift each of you like wheat. Sift separates the wheat from the husk.  Satan tries to separate us from our faith in God.   32  But I (Jesus) have pleaded in prayer for you, Simon, that your faith should not fai...

Feed you Faith

Luke 8  (NLT) 13  The seeds on the rocky soil represent those who hear the message and receive it with joy. But since they don’t have deep roots, they believe for a while, then  they fall away when they face temptation. Joy is an indicator of faith. Worry is an indicator of doubt.  Temptation is specific to the situation.  The temptation for this type of person was doubt.   We are not helpless victims of worry. Faith is a choice.  Worry is a choice.  We can choose what we look at, listen to, and think about.  We can choose to have faith.   If you feed your fears, they will grow.  We must starve our fears, but feed out faith.  We can choose faith or doubt.  14  The seeds that fell among the thorns represent those who hear the message, but all too quickly  the message is crowded out by the  cares  and  riches  and  pleasures  of ...

Where is God when times get tough?

Mark 4:35-41 (NLT) 35  As evening came, Jesus said to his disciples, “Let’s cross to the other side of the lake.”  Faith is based upon something.  Jesus said that they were all going across the lake.  The disciples should have based their faith upon what Jesus had said.   36  So they took Jesus in the boat and started out, leaving the crowds behind (although other boats followed).  37  But soon a fierce storm came up. High waves were breaking into the boat, and it began to fill with water. You can be in the center of the will of God, and the journey can get tough.  38  Jesus was sleeping at the back of the boat with his head on a cushion.  Faith doesn't fret.  Jesus was in the same ship as they were, but he was relaxed and asleep.   The disciples woke him up, shouting, “Teacher, don’t you care that we’re going to drown?” Our mi...

When panic attacks

Psalm 3:6 (ESV) 6  I will not be afraid  of many thousands of people     who have set themselves against me all around. *We can't look at, think, or talk about things that cause fear as an act of our will.  Psalm 23:4 A (ESV) 4  Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, [ a ]      I will fear no evil, for you (Lord) are with me; Psalm 27:3 (ESV) 3  Though an army encamp against me,      my heart shall not fear; though war arise against me,     yet I will be confident. Psalm 56:3-4 (ESV) 3  When I am afraid,     I put my trust in you. 4  In God, whose word I praise,      in God I trust; I shall not be afraid.     What can flesh do to me? Psalm 118:6  (ESV) 6...
